Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) stimulation has been utilized in the medical field since the early 20th century. A number of therapeutic devices have been developed for the treatment of bone fractures and other medical applications. Most of these devices are backed by limited quantitative evidence. In this paper we present the development of a PEMF device for the purposes of determining, through in vitro experimentation, the exposure parameters required to give the most optimal fracture repair. Following electromagnetic field characterization, the device was shown to match well with computational field simulations.
