Modern technology companies --telecommunications providers, search engines, content hosts, and social media platforms --play a major role in shaping our social lives. We are at a crucial moment now for the future of internet governance; there are mounting (and often conflicting) pressures for technology companies to do more to resist censorship, promote privacy rights, and combat abuse, hate, and extremism.
