Since 1993, the DOT has requested that itsindustry advisory group, the Commercial Space Transportation Advisory Committee(COMSTAC), prepare and maintain a commercial spacecraft launch demand missionmodel. This report presents the 1997 update of the worldwide commercialgeosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO) satellite mission model for the period 1997through 2010. It is based on market forecasts obtained in early 1997.It is limited to payloads open to internationally competitive launch serviceprocurements. Payloads captive to any launch system are excluded from themission model. The FAA/AST develops low-earth-orbit (LEO) and medium-earth-orbit (MEO) market forecasts separately from this report. 45p.84
