About two-thirds of fatally injured truck workers were involved in highway crashes. According to statistics from the United States Department of Transportation for 2005, 137,144 crashes involved a large truck. Of these, 59,405 were crashes that resulted in an injury to at least one individual for a total of 89,681 injuries. In 2004,1 4,862 large trucks were involved in fatal crashes for a total of 5,190 fatalities. The purpose of this evidence report is to examine the relationship between the licit use of a Schedule II drug and the risk for a motor vehicle crash.84
