While the UMTA program supports transit through demonstrations, training, technological development, and research, the bulk of the financial assistance is for transit capital and operating assistance programs. Ihis publication provides a summary of the FY 1981 transit capital and operating assistance programs. Table 1 shows the breakout of the FY 1981 Program. Figures 1-3 provide information on the distribution of program funds as well as comparative data for previous years' funding levels.138
