The report consists of two sections: Section 1 contains industry aggregate statistics only, while Section 2 contains detailed financial and operating data on individual transit agencies. The current edition contains transit industry statistics compiled from the Section 15 data submitted by the transit agencies for fiscal years ending between July 1, 1980 and June 30, 1981, the third year of operation of the Section 15 reporting system. It is important to note that, due to reporting inconsistencies, commuter rail data is not included in this document.138
