Research SectionUS Transportation Collection"In November 2004 the Federal Highway Administration conducted the Traveler Opinion & Perception Survey(TOPS). This was a nationwide survey with the objective of understanding the needs and expectations of users of thenation\u2019s transportation system. To gain a better understanding of Oregonians\u2019 attitudes about the transportationsystem, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) funded additional interviews and expanded the survey tocover additional issues. This summary report presents findings of the Oregon survey, compared with results from thePacific states and the nation as a whole. The report covers opinions on the following issues:\u2022 What contributes to an effective and high quality transportation system;\u2022 Satisfaction with the transportation system;\u2022 Delays resulting from roadwork;\u2022 Work zone management;\u2022 Bridge conditions;\u2022 Support for future transportation programs; and\u2022 Environmental concerns.
