Evaluation of life cycle impacts of intersection control type selection [final report].

NCDOT Project 2014-11The methodology provided in this report provides guidance for NCDOT conversions of two\u2010waystop controlled intersections to other intersection types to enhance the effective allocation ofpublic funds. The findings of this project have been incorporated into the study\u2019s primarydeliverable, the spreadsheet\u2010based NCDOT Intersection Life Cycle Cost Comparison Tool, whichcombines enhanced HCM 2010 methodologies and standard cost benefit analysis methodologiesto calculate the long\u2010term net benefits of converting a two\u2010way stop controlled intersections tothree different intersection options: 1) all\u2010\ua0way stop controlled, 2) signalized, and 3) roundabouttypes. This deliverable is designed for use during the planning phase of potential intersectionconversion projects to help stakeholders identify the most cost\u2010effective conversionconfiguration option.
