The process of defining landslide and subsidence hazards is highly dependent upon the judgments of experienced and knowledgeable specialists in geology and geotechnical engineering. With the heavy reliance on judgment, it is not possible to identify specific processes that constitute generally acceptable approaches. Therefore, much of this document focuses on identifying the variety of available methods that can be used to define landslide and subsidence hazards for pipelines
