In 1997, the U.S. Department of Transportation initiated an effort to track progress toward fulfillment of this goal by conducting a survey of deployment in the nation\u2019s largest metropolitan areas. This report presents the results of the 1999 survey efforts and compares the results of the 1997 survey against those observed in 1999
