These were the first bridges to be constructed in Virginia utilizing the precast subdeck panel construction technique. The field study was conducted as a follow-up to the original study which resulted in the recommendation to install the panels on a bridge on an experimental basis and record any problems occurring during the installation and further to offer suggestions for the possible improvement of the technique. Details regarding the general features of the prestressed panels used on the Rte 220 bridges are given in the report. Based on observations made during the installation of the panels, certain recommendations are offered
