International audienceThe contact of a liquid with a solid wall generally results in an electrical double layer (EDL) which effects are negligible at macroscopic scale but not at microscopic scale. This EDL can be used to drive the liquid (electro-osmosis) or to bring solid particles within the liquid (electrophoresis) by application of an electric field. Without any electric field and in the case of a pressure driven flow, the EDL plays an important role with several consequences on the flow. The objective of this paper is to propose a synthesis and an analysis of the current knowledge about the effects of EDL on Poiseuille microflows.
