This paper is based on a new numismatic study of the aurei RIC I2 Augustus 273. Technical data (corpus, die-study, metrology, typology) shed new light on the historical importance of these coins, and it is suggested that Octavian may have been hinting at Claudius Marcellus in the public language he was using after his recovery of Sicily.Cet article repose sur une nouvelle étude numismatique des aurei RIC I² Augustus 273.
