HUBUNGAN KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL DENGAN MOTIVASI BELAJAR SISWA (Kasus SMP Swasta HKBP Pematangsiantar)

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to look at the relationship of emotional intelligence with student motivation in Pematangsiantar HKBP Private Middle School. The number of samples was 57 people. This research uses descriptive method, while the data analysis conducted using Pearson product moment correlation with data collection tools is a questionnaire for Variable X (emotional intelligence) and Variable Y (student learning motivation). To determine the relationship of emotional intelligence with student learning motivation, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Statistical Test was used. From the test results obtained by testing the correlation (r) 0.48 with a determination test of 23.04% and to find out whether or not the correlation coefficient is significant at the real level (α) = 0.05, a "t" test is carried out with the test criteria if the tcount obtained from calculations greater than t table at a significant level of 1 - 0.05 with dk = n - 2, the hypothesis is accepted and in other cases rejected. From the test results obtained t count> t table (4.08> 1.67), then the hypothesis is accepted. Thus it can be said that there is a significant influence between the relationship of emotional intelligence with student learning motivation in the Pematangsiantar HKBP Private Middle School. Keyword: emotional intelligence, learning motivation   ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat hubungan kecerdasan emosional dengan motivasi belajar siswa di SMP Swasta HKBP Pematangsiantar. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 57 orang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif, sedangkan analisis data yang dilakukan menggunakan korelasi product moment pearson dengan alat pengumpulan data adalah angket untuk Variabel X (kecerdasan emosional) dan Variabel Y (motivasi belajar siswa). Untuk mengetahui hubungan kecerdasan emosional dengan motivasi belajar siswa, maka digunakan Uji Statistik Korelasi Product Moment Pearson. Dari hasil pengujian diperoleh pengujian korelasi (r) 0,48 dengan uji determinasi sebesar 23,04 % dan untuk mengetahui signifikan tidaknya koefisien korelasi pada taraf nyata  = 0,05 maka diadakan uji “t” dengan kriteria pengujian jika thitung yang didapat dari perhitungan lebih besar dari ttabel pada taraf signifikan 1 – 0,05 dengan dk = n – 2 maka hipotesis diterima dan dalam hal lain ditolak. Dari hasil pengujian diperoleh thitung > ttabel (4,08 > 1,67), maka hipotesis diterima. Dengan demikian dapat dikemukakan Berpengaruh yang berarti antara Hubungan kecerdasan emosional dengan motivasi belajar siswa di SMP Swasta HKBP Pematangsiantar.
