It is well recognized that obesity and aging impair individuals balance and walking abilities. These alterations are potentially associated with greater difficulty in performing activities of daily life. However, the magnitude of the effects on functional abilities of the combination of aging and obesity, as observed in obese elderly, requires further investigations. Through this thesis work, we, first of all, showed that obesity presents an additional constraint to age throughout the process of stabilization and walking in elderly. This aggravates the functional limitations in the obese elderly in activities of daily life.
