Natural regeneration of wood vegetation and environmental relations in two cerrado sensu stricto fragments

Studies on natural regeneration in sites with anthropic influences demonstrate the natural recovery capacity of the environments, as well identify the species most susceptible to success in the natural regeneration of a particular site. The present study evaluated two fragments of vegetation of cerrado sensu stricto submitted to disturbances of the cattle breeding activity. The objectives were to know the diversity and floristic patterns of natural regeneration and to identify possible environmental relationships between woody vegetation and environmental and biophysical variables. Ten plots of 100 m² (denominated Class I) were installed in each fragment, representing a total of 20 plots, where all woody plant species with db 1 m (height) were identified and quantified. Within the Class I plots were delimited sub-plots of 4 m² (denominated Class II) where the woody individuals with 15 cm ≤ H ≤ 1 m were sampled. Chemical and physical analysis were analyzed by means of soil samples, and the variables of soil cover, canopy cover, canopy height, rockiness, soil humidity, soil electrical conductivity and soil temperature, slope and altitude were measured. The dissertation was structured in two chapters, in whish the first one presents information about the woody natural regeneration and the second one deals with the soil characteristics and the environmental variables in order to identify the environmental relations between the evaluated parameters and the regenerating woody vegetation in the two areas of study.Dissertação (Mestrado)Os estudos sobre a regeneração natural em locais com influências antrópicas evidenciam a capacidade de recuperação natural dos ambientes, assim como identificam as espécies mais susceptíveis ao sucesso na regeneração natural de um determinado local. O presente estudo avaliou dois fragmentos de vegetação de cerrado sensu stricto submetidos a perturbações da atividade de bovinocultura. Os objetivos foram conhecer a diversidade e os padrões florísticos da regeneração natural e identificar possíveis relações ambientais entre a vegetação arbórea e as variáveis ambientais e biofísicas. Foram instaladas 10 parcelas de 100 m² (denominadas de Classe I) em cada fragmento, totalizando 20 parcelas, onde foram identificadas e quantificadas todas as espécies vegetais arbóreas com db 1 m (altura). No interior das parcelas Classe I foram delimitadas sub-parcelas de 4 m² (denominadas de Classe II), onde foram amostrados os indivíduos arbóreos com 15 cm ≤ H ≤ 1 m. Foram realizadas análises químicas e físicas por meio de amostras de solo, e foram mensuradas as variáveis de cobertura do solo, cobertura do dossel, altura do dossel, rochosidade, umidade do solo, condutividade elétrica do solo, temperatura do solo, declividade e altitude. A dissertação foi estruturada em dois capítulos, em que o primeiro apresenta informações sobre a regeneração natural arbórea e o segundo aborda as características do solo e as variáveis ambientais no intuito de identificar relações ambientais entre os parâmetros avaliados e a vegetação regenerante arbórea nas duas áreas de estudo
