The object of this dissertation is one type of criminal offences against the security of electronic data and information systems, which is criminal offences against the confidentiality of electronic data and information systems, provided in the Articles 198 and 198(1) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania, and issues of their criminal legal assessment. The dissertation discussed the content of the main value protected by the criminal law, revealed how confidentiality should be interpreted in the context of security of electronic data and information systems.
