Looking through the photographic archives from the archaeological site of Xochicalco (Morelos, Mexico), we found some images from the mid-20th century in which we were able to identify the representation of a fish on a sculpture of great size. It should be noted that this one of the scarce evidences of aquatic vertebrates known on this site from this Epiclassic locality (660 - 1175 CE.) and most probably, in contemporaneous continental sites of Mesoamerica. The aquatic world played a key role in the Xochicalco imagery as it is shown by the numerous animals remains and representations that had been found.
