Colombia cuenta con una alta diversidad de quelonios continentales, siendo un “hot spot” para este grupo de vertebrados. Sin embargo, la mayoría de especies se encuentran en alguna categoría de amenaza y no presentan información suficiente para evaluar su estado de amenaza real. En este estudio, se estimaron espacios de distribución potencial para siete linajes genéticos de la especie de tortuga continental Rhinoclemmys melanosterna, con el propósito de generar información que permita aportar a acciones de conservación de la misma y de su hábitat.
