Law 10,639, sanctioned in 2003, provided a kind of stimulus for the accomplishment of projects and works that contemplate an educational character directed to the innumerable manifestations and expressions of the diverse Brazilian culture. Thus, through a dialogical relationship between the University and a state school of Divinópolis (MG), this project aimed, in the formation of high school graduates, to rescue the importance of black culture and the acceptance of diversity in Brazilian society. For this, we used as a method the literature review on the theme in question and the holding of meetings and workshops about samba and its historical-social context, seeking to elucidate the respective inheritances of slavery.
