Abstract

Train indicator boards on the front top of Southern Pacific locomotive show 21. This indicates that this is westbound Train 21 the "Pacific Limited" which was jointly operated by three different railroads from Chicago to Oakland with the Southern Pacific handling the train from Ogden, Utah to the ferry wharf at Oakland, CA. The actual locomotive number is not visible on the side of the cab in this slide. Now highway 89, west of Truckee, CA. 194
