She graduated from Montclair State College, now Montclair State University, in 1971, with a degree in biology and an emphasis in education, and then relocated to Utah the same year. She received a Master's of Education degree at the University of Utah. She discusses her employment with Save Our Canyons and her major involvement with such Friends of the Great Salt Lake.
