He was raised by his mother, originally from New Orleans, and his father, originally from Indianapolis; and was introduced to climbing at fourteen years of age. He gives a contrast between indoor and outdoor climbing, and discusses the progression and classification of climbing and bouldering over his twelve years of experience.
