This large dinosaur fossil vertebrae was discovered and unearthed by Earl Douglass on August 17, 1909. Historian George Long stated that young Johnny Powell discovered the large fossils near Jensen prior to Douglass coming. Geologist Dr. Earl Douglass came to the area and is known for the discovery and for the creation of Dinosaur National Monument
