In the spring of 1923, to stimulate the dairy industry in Uintah County, the Uintah State bank conceived the idea of offering a purebred bull calf to the calf club in Uintah County which made the best record. The calf was said to be worth $200. The Maeser Calf Club was awarded the calf. The club consisted of 11 members. The large bull belonged to LeRoy Carroll.
