reportAnalytical, geographical, and geological data on 67 samples of crude oils from Utah are presented, along with some correlations and interpretations. Most of the geologic formations that produce oil in other areas are also productive in Utah; and, as in many other locations, the Permian, Pennsylvanian, and Mississippian formations account for the major amount of the total oil produced in the State. Some anomalies and unusual phenomena are noted. Although most Utah oils are low in sulfur, a sample containing the highest, percentage of sulfur ever recorded by the Bureau of Mines is among the oils discussed in this paper.
