thesisNon-specific alkaline phosphatase, ATP-ase, and glucose-6-phosphatase activities were assayed in intact tissue cultured cell from monkey kidneys with suitable substrate-buffer systems. The results were expressed in terms of released orthophosphate, over a give time, from cells in contrast with the sodium salts of glycerophosphate, ATP, or glucose-6-phosphate. The reproducibility of results was verified in each experiment in multiple analysis on a number of cell monolayers treated in an identical fashion. The effect of substrate and substrate concentration, pH, Ca++ and Mg++ concentration, glucose and L-glutamine, maleic acid, and 2,4-dinitrophenol on certain of these enzyme activities was determined.
