According to Ellen Fisher, supervisor of the Blood Donor and Apheresis Center, University Hospital uses about 10,000 units of blood and blood products annually. " This is a very generous commu-nity and when we make an appeal for blood, Utahns come forward," said Fisher. " What we need is for donors to keep the need for blood permanently in mind, because we anticipate that the current shortage will continue." The Donor Center is open from 8 a. m.- 6 p. m., Monday- Friday. Appointments can be made Saturday from 10 a. m.~ 2 p. m. by calling x 1- 2686. Welsh Dominates Tennis Competition at Huntsman Senior Games Janet Welsh If life begins at 50, then Janet Welsh is in the prime of childhood. An administrative assistant in the Infectious Diseases Division, mother of six and grandmother of 17, Welsh last week earned three medals in tennis competition at the Huntsman Senior Olympic Games in St. George, Ut. Welsh was honored in the 50- 59 age category with a gold medal in the women's doubles competition, a bronze in the mixed doubles and a second bronze in the women's singles. " I had some really good doubles partners, but I felt I really earned the singles medal," said Welsh. " You never know how you're going to finish in this competition. On one day, Welsh had to participate in three matches. This was the second time for Welsh in the Senior Olympics. She earned a bronze medal in singles competition in 1989. As for the future, Welsh says she will probably compete in next year's Games. Don't Forget Your Flu Shots Free flu, M. M. R. ( measles, mumps and rubella) and T. D.
