XCi S CIA 11 R July 9,1992 Patient/ Visitor Increase Reduces Employee Parking In North Terrace Beginning Monday, July 13, the number of employee parking stalls in the North Visitor/ Patient Terrace ( Lot 50) will be reduced. Because of an increased need for patient/ visitor parking at University Hospital, Level 2 ( i. e. UMC employee parking) will be permanently closed to UMC employees and opened for patients and visitors. Level 1 will be the only area available for employee parking. The change, approved by the University Hospital Parking Commit-tee, Hospital Administration and Parking Services, will free additional stalls for hospital patients and visitors. All 67 reserved stalls currently in the North Terrace will be located on Level 1, and the remaining 171 stalls on Level 1 will be available for MA parking. Employees with MA permits are asked to use the HSC Parking Terrace ( Lot 64), south of the Eccles Institute of Human Genetics. Parking in the West Terrace ( Lot 56) is discouraged because of ongoing construction and current crowding problems. " The North Parking Terrace originally was designed for hospital patients and visitors; after it was built we allowed some employees to park there. Now, patients and vistors are being forced to park on the hill above the Moran Eye Center construction and they shouldn't have to do that," said Alma Allred, director of Parking Services. " The employees currently parking in the North Terrace can relocate to the South Terrace, providing additional parking for patients and vistors in the North Terrace."
