The move was completed over the weekend. The phone numbers for the two offices will stay the same. Their new campus address is 5lh Floor Moran. Joint Venture Means Dec. Savings Merchandise in University Hospital's gift shop is 25 percent off through the end of this month as the store prepares for new management beginning in January. UH has agreed to a joint venture with Hazelwood, the operator of Marriott hotel gift shops, to run the store. UH will be the company's first hospital gift shop. " Having an experienced national firm like Hazelwood running our gift shop will benefit patients, visitors and staff," said Christine Gardner, Hospital Administration. " As part of our agreement, the shop will receive a face- lift and increase the variety of its merchandise." The shop's current employees will be retained. Last year, UH took over management of the gift shop from the Hospital Auxiliary, which had operated the shop since 1981. www. med. utah. pubaffairs Malcolm Berenson UH Nutrition Clinic Now Available University Hospital has established a Nutrition Clinic to evaluate and treat patients with nutritional problems. The clinic is staffed by physicians from the medical school's Division of Gastroenterology and a registered dietitian from the hospital's Nutrition Care Service. According to Malcolm Berenson, M. D., professor of gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition, the clinic's goal is to provide complete management of nutritional diseases. " This means choosing between enteral and parenteral alimentation, establishing access routes for feeding, and designing nutrient provision based on assessment and responses to interventions." The clinic will serve as a resource for patients who have been discharged but need continued medical care, according to John Fang, M. D., assistant professor of gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition and clinic co- director. " It is our hope that the clinic will provide a resource for physicians who would like help managing the nutritional problems of their patients," said Fang. D., interim dean, presents second- year medical students Jeffrey Cline and Janet Labrum with the 14th annual McGraw- Hill Award. The awards go to the top two students of the previous year's freshman class. Recipients are selected by first- year course masters and the Office of Student Affairs. Rollins Named Medical Director for Olympic Doping Control Douglas E. Rollins, M. D., PhD., professor of pharmacology and toxicology, has been selected by the Salt Lake Organizing Committee ( SLOC) for the Olympic Winter Games of 2002 as the medical director for doping control. Rollins, who will join SLOC officially in January, will be responsible for doping control operations at the competition venues and the Athletes' Village for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. His duties will include developing strategies and procedures for the aspects of testing that occur outside of the labora-tory. He will be responsible for the random testing of athletes and those finishing in the top of their races. Other aspects of his work will include escorting the athlete to the doping control station, specimen collec-tion processes and ensuring specimens arrive at the laboratory with the proper identification. " Doping control is clearly at the forefront of issues facing the Olympic movement," said SLOC President and CEO G. Frank Joklik. " Dr. Rollins will be a tremendous assest in conducting a drug- testing pro-gram that meets these challenges. This is an important job for us, and I am confident in the skills and expertise he has to offer." Bosses' Day Breakfast a Success Pain Morrison, Nutrition Care Services, assists Ralph Pedersen, director, U Human Resources, at the annual Bosses' Day breakfast. Approximately 300 employees and their bosses attended the event, sponsored by the Career Development for University Secretaries ( CDUS). Morrison is currently planning the CDUS- sponsored Secretaries Day Conference, scheduled for April 21. The annual event features speakers, workshops and a resource fair.
