Disease of the vestibular organ and/or the vestibular nerves may produce abnormal vestibular sensations such as vertigo- commonly defined as an illusion of rotation of hallucination of movement, and the phenomenon of ocular titling, as well as observable disturbances of ocular motility (nystagmus and skew deviation). The presence of vertigo, in particular, indicates an imbalance in the vestibular system, but the absence of sensations of rotation or movement does not fuel out a vestibular lesion. The uncomfortable sensations that accompany dysfunction may be interpreted or des c ribbed as ""dizziness, head swimming, unsteadiness, drunkenness or disequilibrium"" etc
