Segmental atrophy of the ganglion cell layer + inner plexiform layer complex thickness (GCL+IPLt) on spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) has been demonstrated in vivo in cases of isolated post-geniculate visual pathway dysfunction, presumably through retrograde trans-synaptic degeneration (RTSD).
