Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a useful tool in determining retinal insult. Thinning of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) is typically defined as 2 standard deviations (SD) below a control population mean. We recently demonstrated in a single-center cohort of 24 pediatric-onset multiple sclerosis (POMS) participants using Cirrus OCT that this definition may miss pathology.
