Dr Amos was born in Findlay, Ohio in 1940. Dr Amos received both her B.S. (1962) and M.S. (1964) from Ohio State University. Dr Amos received her Ed.D. from Boston University in 1977. Dr Amos was Assistant Dean of Baccalaureate Affairs at Boston University College of Nursing from 1971-1974 and Dean and Professor from 1975-1980. She became Dean and Professor at the University of Utah College of Nursing in 1980 and Associate Vice President at the Health Sciences Center in 1998. Dr Amos received the Mary Tolle Wright Award for Excellence in Leadership from Sigma Theta Tau, International in 1991.
