Patient blood management is "the scientific use of safe and effective medical and surgical techniques designed to conserve blood, prevent anemia, decrease bleeding, and optimize coagulation in an effort to improve patient outcomes. Acute normovolemic hemodilution can be a component of patient blood management. Evidence supports that acute normovolemic hemodilution decreases allogenic blood transfusions but we are not utilizing AHD in our appropriate cardiac populations
