Handwritten biographical sketch of Melancthon Wheeler Burgess, written by his daughter, Mrs. Margaret V. McIntire of Saint George. He was born in New York State in 1831, and came with his family to Salt Lake City in 1847. He participated in the "Utah War" in 1857, then settled at Saint George in 186
