John Wilkie Residence. House located in Nauvoo, Illinois at Block 119, Lot 4, west 30 feet of said lot. No record found to date indicates there was a house on this lot prior to 1843. In that year William E. Horner and Abram Hoover are taxed for this small lot and a large house. It would appear that they owned it jointly, but it may have been built for speculation and sale. The following year they sold it to John Wilkie - listed as both a Mormon and a ""New Citizen."" Local tradition in the 1890's-1930 identified this as the residence of John D. Lee. This is erroneous - he did not live on the lot. Gift of T. Edgar Lyon
