After the Post War period, the Italian Communist Party (Partito Comunista Italiano – PCI) proposed the creation of popular divistic models through a number of competitions designed to counter the ideal of female beauty in American cinema. The aim of this article, thus, is to analize the role of PCI in the Vie Nuove and Pattuglia magazines, where the competitions Alla ricerca di volti nuovi and Miss Primavera were launched. In order to achive this objective, I will unearth the history of these competitions with particular attention to the role of the producers and directors involved, as well as investigating the future career of the girls
