Que faire des images soviétiques de la Shoah?

With the 70th anniversary of the « liberation » of the camps marked this year, the Holocaust has never been so present in the media. But a re-examination of this mediatisation of the Jewish genocide during and just after World War II is required, especially since the entertainment industry in all its forms merely feeds the morbid fascination of the public while satisfying itself with « commemorations » that lack any real historian reflection : for example, the documentary and historiographical materials revealed by the opening of Soviet archives remain largely ignored. The research team responsible for the exhibition « Filming the War. The Soviets and the Holocaust, 1941-1946 » (Memorial of the Shoah, Paris, 2015) set itself the task of focusing on films from this source, but without neglecting other forms of information and propaganda. In this article the three curators look back on two years of research, outlining their aims, their methodologies, and their main results. In particular they show that the hours of Soviet film document in detail the genocide of the Jews committed by the occupier in the USSR, the Baltic countries, and Poland from 1941 to 1945.Con il 70° anniversario della "liberazione" dei campi che ricorre quest'anno, l'Olocausto non è mai stato così presente nei media. Ma un riesame di questa mediatizzazione del genocidio ebraico durante e subito dopo la seconda guerra mondiale è necessario, tanto più che l'industria dello spettacolo, in tutte le sue forme, non fa che alimentare il fascino morboso del pubblico, soddisfacendosi con "commemorazioni" prive di una vera riflessione storica: ad esempio, i materiali documentari e storiografici rivelati dall'apertura degli archivi sovietici restano in gran parte ignorati. Il gruppo di ricerca responsabile della mostra "Filming the War. I sovietici e l'Olocausto, 1941-1946" (Memoriale della Shoah, Parigi, 2015) si è posto il compito di concentrarsi sui film di questa fonte, ma senza trascurare altre forme di informazione e propaganda. In questo articolo i tre curatori ripercorrono due anni di ricerca, delineando i loro obiettivi, le loro metodologie e i loro principali risultati. In particolare mostrano che le ore di film sovietici documentano in dettaglio il genocidio degli ebrei commesso dall'occupante in URSS, nei paesi baltici e in Polonia dal 1941 al 1945
