The Examination of the Cyber Bullying and Cyber Unjust Treatment Perception Levels of Teacher Candidates

This research aims at examining cyber bullying and cyber unjust treatment perceptions of the teacher candidates studying in Afyon Kocatepe University Education Faculty according to their sexes, social economical levels, internet usage times, their classes and departments that they have been studying, and determining their awareness levels. The target population consists of the students being selected from 1., 2., 3., and 4. Grades who study in 7 departments in Afyon Kocatepe University Education Faculty in 2015-2016 academic year. 1088 students participated in this research as the sample of the research and 25,4% of them consists of men (n=276), 74,6% of them consists of women (n=812) teacher candidates. The Sample is assumed to represent the universe. Survey was made to the subjects and the questions consisting of the scales of “Cyber Bullying” and “Cyber Unjust Treatment” developed by Arıcak et al. (2011) were asked to them and a personal information form was prepared by a researcher. The questions were analysed in SPSS programme, and the questions in the personnel information form were evaluated by calculating the density of the cyber bullying behaviours that the students are exposed and they perform, percentage and frequency, and by tabulating them. In the evaluation, Mann-Whitney U test was made for binary variables and the results were evaluated. As a result of the evaluation, while there is a significant difference between sex and cyber bullying of the teacher candidates, there is no significant difference between sex and cyber unjust treatment of the teacher candidates. While there is a significant relationship between the income status of the family and cyber unjust treatment of the teacher candidates, any relationship hasn’t been determined between the income status of the family and cyber bullying. It has been determined that there isn’t significant difference between the class that the teacher candidates study and cyber bullying and cyber unjust treatment; there is significant difference between internet usage time and the department that they study in terms of cyber bullying and cyber unjust treatment.Bu araştırmada, Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesinde öğrenim gören öğretmen adaylarının; cinsiyet, sosyo-ekonomik düzey, internet kullanım süresi, öğrenim gördüğü sınıf ve bölüme göre siber zorbalık ve siber mağduriyet algılarının incelenmesi ve farkındalık düzeylerini belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma evreni 2015–2016 eğitim öğretim yılında Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesinde bulunan 7 bölümde öğrenim gören 1., 2., 3. ve 4. Sınıf öğrencilerinden seçilen öğrencilerden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemi olarak 1088 öğrenci katılmış olup bunların %25,4’ü ( n=276 ) erkek, %74,6’sı ( n=812 ) kız öğretmen adayından oluşmaktadır. Örneklemin evreni temsil ettiği varsayılmıştır. Deneklere anket uygulaması yapılmış olup ankette araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan kişisel bilgi formu ve Arıcak vd. (2011), tarafından geliştirilen “Siber Zorbalık” ve “Siber Mağdur” ölçeklerinden oluşan sorular yöneltilmiştir. Sorular SPSS programında analiz edilmiş olup, kişisel bilgi formunda yer alan sorular, öğrencilerin maruz kaldıkları ve uyguladıkları siber zorbalık davranışlarının sıklığı, yüzde ve frekansları hesaplanarak tablolar haline getirilerek değerlendirilmiştir. Değerlendirmede İkili değişkenler için Mann-Whitney U testi yapılarak sonuçlar değerlendirilmiştir. Yapılan değerlendirme sonucunda öğretmen adaylarının; cinsiyet ile siber zorbalık arasında anlamlı bir farklılık bulunurken siber mağduriyet arasında anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmamaktadır. Öğretmen adaylarının ailelerinin gelir durumuna ile siber mağduriyet arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunurken siber zorbalık arasında anlamlı bir ilişki tespit edilememiştir. Öğretmen adaylarının öğrenim gördüğü sınıf ile siber zorbalık ve siber mağduriyet arasında anlamlı bir farklılık olmadığı, internet kullanım süresi ile öğrenim görülen bölüm arasında ise siber zorbalık ve siber mağduriyet yönünden anlamlı bir farklılık bulunduğu tespit edilmiştir
