Plastic deformation of andalusite crystals has been made by microindentation at room temperature. Two types of prismatic loops with Burgers vectors [100] and [010] were observed and three types of glide bands corresponding to the slip systems (100)[001], (010)[001] and {110}[001] were identified using transmission electron microscopy. In these glide bands, dislocations are mainly [001] screws.
