Perceptions of International Students

International students are defined as a student who peruses a higher education in a different country from their own who are only there for educational purposes. Past studies have shown that there are beneficial programs that are offered to international students who help them adjust better to an American curriculum. The results of such studies reveal that international students who are in said programs overall do better academically in an American school system than American students and international students who don’t participate in such programs. Thus, the purpose of this study is to determine the perceptions of university students have on international university students. Participants included 60 university students from University of the Pacific. They were asked to answer two questionnaires which included a demographics questionnaire and a perception survey. On average students took 15 minutes to complete both questionnaires and were taken according to their availability. Data collection is ongoing and will be presented via a poster.
