Foggy, partially cleared at 10 A.M., when we hoisted kedge and proceeded on our way. Came to anchor again at 8 P.M., steering past Pt. Hope down Kotzebue Sound. Mild, 45o, calm, gray, sleepy day. A gull now and then the only life. Sep. 5. Left anchorage at 5 A.M. Dull, semi-rainy, with now and then a sloppy snowflake. Temp. nearly all day 45o. Foggy at times. Land came in sight about noon, clear and distinct at 3 P.M. The Mulgrave hills, knobby and conspicuous. Refreshing to see land once more, and to find out one’s whereabouts.
