Testament rajcy krakowskiego Mikołaja Królika (1628-1711) : źródło do dziejów kilku rodzin mieszczan krakowskich w 2. połowie XVII i na początku XVIII wieku oraz położenia różnowierców w Rzeczypospolitej

The goal of the present article is to supplement the biography of the Cracow councilor and merchant, the royal secretary Mikołaj Królik (1628-1711) and to shed light on the history of his family. The article also constitutes an attempt to present the situation of Non-Catholic burghers in a city with a Catholic majority, such as Cracow. The last will and codicil left by Mikołaj Królik serve as an illustration here. The last will is an original document which goes back to the year 1707 and probably constitutes the autograph of M. Królik himself. Whereas as regards the codicil, only a copy of the original document (dating back to 1711) exists and it is to be found in the city archives. The last will of M. Królik reveals a number of facts from the private life of the individual members of his family (including his brothers and sisters), as well as from the lives of other Cracow families who remained on friendly terms with him, specifically, the Karmichel and the Chabers families. The document also reveals the little-known fact of Królik’s conversion to Catholicism which undoubtedly had opened a way to his career
