Researchers aim to develop entirely autonomous sensors. By ensuring an important autonomy, the use of batteries solves part of the energy problem with relatively low costs. However, batteries introduce different problems such as maintenance and environmental pollution. Harvesting thermal, mechanical, electromagnetic, solar or wind energy present in the environment is an attractive solution.
