International audienceAbstract: By comparing the archaeological data from Laugerie-Haute (Dordogne) with new experimental data, we propose here to discuss Gravettian antler rod production during the late phase (24,5-22,5 ka BP), mainly in France, but also in some other European contexts (27.5-20 ka BP). Very specific skills using various fracturing techniques were developed by diverse groups in France, Moravia and Romania, to produce rod-shaped blanks. These may reflect cultural traditions extending way beyond a regional framework.
