International audienceSimian foamy viruses (SFVs) are complex retroviruses widespread throughout nonhuman primates. SFVs can also be transmitted to humans, mostly through bites. We previously observed that the primary zoonotic gorilla SFV strains much more slowly than laboratory-adapted chimpanzee strains.
