LE MUSEE HOUILLER DE LILLE ET SES COLLECTIONS : UN HERITAGE REMARQUABLE DE L’ACTIVITE MINIERE DU NORD – PAS-DE-CALAIS

International audienceThe coal Museum was instituted in 1907 in Lille, under Charles Barrois initiative, in order to become a tool at the service of the mining companies of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region. It is made available to engineers and is also open to civil society. Nowadays, the result is two unique collections, witnesses of the mining heritage, both at the University of Lille and the Natural History Museum of Lille. For 110 years, three different phases have enriched this set of scientific specimens that researchers have constantly analyzed, while the museographic policy of presenting samples to the general public has had two periods.Le Musée houiller est institué en 1907 à Lille, à l'initiative de Charles Barrois, dans l'objectif d'être un outil au service des compagnies minières du Nord-Pas-de-Calais. Il est mis à disposition des ingénieurs et est également ouvert à la société civile. Aujourd'hui, il en résulte deux collections singulières, témoins du patrimoine minier, à l'Université de Lille et au Musée d'histoire naturelle de Lille. Depuis 110 ans, trois phases différentes ont enrichi cet ensemble en spécimens scientifiques que les chercheurs n'ont cessé d'analyser tandis que la politique muséographique de présentation des échantillons auprès du grand public a connu deux périodes
