International audienceThe rockshelter of Pont d'Ambon opens on to the floodplain of the Dronne in a region rich in cliffs and Paleolithic sites. Two zones can be distinguished in the area excavated : the rear, altered by the Magdalenian and Azilian inhabitants, and the front, subjected to natural processes of disturbance. A preliminary geological of the archaeological sequence reveals : at the base, the alternation of alluvial and frost fracture processes ; in the middle part, colluvial and waterborn sediments ; and in the upper portion, a return of frost fractured sediments. Studies of the biological environment, already published in academic contexts, are synthesized here : paleontology of large mammals, lagomorphs and rodents, ichtyology...
