Background and study aim: Studies have shown that 1:1 care by a midwife during labour has a positive effect on the health of mothers and children. Against a background of constraints in the capacity for midwifery care in Berlin hospitals, the point of view of mothers on the presence of midwives and quality of care was examined retrospectively in this study.Methods: The presence of midwives sub partu and the rating of the extent of care (as a quality measure for care) were recorded by mothers who gave birth in Berlin in the years 2016/17 by means of a semi-quantitative online questionnaire.
